Radish Thokku / Mullangi Thokku

Mullangi Thokku:


Daikan radish 1 cup sliced
Purple onions 2 sliced
Curry leaves few
Turmeric powder 1/4 spoon
Chili powder 1 spoon
Oil few spoons
Mustard seeds 1/4 spoon
Cumin seeds 1/4 spoon
Cilantro leaves few.


In a wide wok, heat oil and add the spces, let them crackle...add curry leaves too.

Further add onions and radish...stir fry for few minutes, followed by powdered spices.

Cover and cook briefly, once they are done...add cilantro and remove from heat.

Tastes good with chappathis and rotis.


Kothu Roti - Leftover Magic

Kothu Roti:

Chappathis 4-6
Green chilies 3 finely chopped
Curry leaves 1 cup
Onion 2 finely chopped
Tomato 1 finely chopped
Ginger-garlic paste 1 spoon
Turmeric powder 1/2 spoon
Chili powder 1 spoon
Garam masala powder 1/2 spoon
Coriander powder 1 spoon
Cumin seeds 1/2 spoon
Eggs 3 boiled and sliced
Cooked minced meat/Mutton keema 100 grams(optional)
Lemon juice few spoons
Oil 1 cup.


In a wide, non-stick wok, heat oil. Add cumin seeds and curry leaves. Followed by green chilies and onion. Fry them crisply. Now add tomatoes and fry real good.

Then add ginger-garlic paste....fry them till its raw smell leaves the pan.

Add eggs or (Add minced cooked meat. Fry till it turns opaque.) Now add salt, turmeric, coriander and garam masala powder to this.

Followed by chappathis, fry them till it coats well. Run few spoons of lemon juice over this.

Garnish with cilantro leaves, serve steaming hot.


Thai Style Bok Choy and Shrimps Fried Noodles

Bok Choy and Shrimps Fried Noodles:


Noodles - a bunch
Bok choy
Bell peppers/Capsicum
Eggs 2 - scrambled
Shrimps with shells 1 cup
Sesame oil
Chinese 5 spice powder
Red chili flakes
Ginger 1" grated
Garlic 2 minced
Thick soy sauce
Chili sauce
Garlic-sesame soy sauce
Honey 1/2 spoon
Grated peanuts 1 cup
Chili flakes 2 spoons
Green onions to garnish.


Cook the noodles alias pasta as per the direction. My way...it should be done, but never over done:)

Stir-fry greens and the veggies with pinch of salt and MSG. Set aside.

Marinate shrimps with soy sauce and stir-fry till crisp. Set aside as well.

In a wide heavy bottomed wok, heat oil. Add 5-spice powder, chili flakes, ginger-garlic, peanuts and the noodles...fry over high heat, until oil coats on it, evenly.

Now add all the sauces plus honey. Further add the fried shrimps plus veggies, eggs etc. Fry over high heat. Garnish with green onions.

Serve warm as a main dish. Its a complete meal:)


Urulai Kizhangu Podimass / Alu Subzi / Mashed Potato Fry

Potato Podimass:


Potatoes 3-4 boiled, peeled and mashed
Pepper powder 1-2 spoons
Onion 1 finely chopped
Green chili 1-3 sliced
Garlic 4 cloves minced
Curry leaves few
Chana + Urad dal 1-2 spoons
Cumin seeds 1/2 spoon
Mustard seeds 1/2 spoon
Oil few spoons.


In a wide wok, heat oil and temper all the spices mentioned. Once they crackle and pop...add the mashed potatoes.

Now, add salt, pepper and stir-fry briefly. Thats it, ready to serve.

Good to go with chappathis and pooris.


Chocolate Dipped Strawberries:)

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries:


Strawberries fresh 1 cup
Dark chocolate bar 1 large
Sugar if necessary.


Melt the dark chocolate and dip the strawberries in it, pop it in your mouth...now tell me, what do you feel?

You know what...the first batch that I made disappeared in few seconds, before I could click them. So, this picture was taken' after scrapping up the berries with left over chocolate!


Fried Mint Chicken - End up Eating it Daily:)

Shallow Fried Mint Chicken:

On the other day,...I was experimenting with my favourite bird' with some home grown herbs. Surprisingly, the result was amazing. So, just wanna share the recipe with you all...one teeny thing, please don't misjudge with my stupid pictures here...the food was really very tasteeee, sometimes its hard to capture all the essence in a picture!


Chicken breast and thighs - with bones, with skin(or its up to you)
Lemon juice 1/4 cup
Ginger 2" grated
Green chilies 5 minced
Mint leaves 1 bowl full crushed
Cilantro leaves 1 bunch crushed
Oil for shallow frying.


Marinate the chicken with all the above mentioned items, except oil.

Now, heat oil in a shallow pan.

Add the chicken and fry them till reddish brown, aromatic and crisp enough.

Serve warm to go with your meals or try them as appetizers...I won't mind, hehe:)


Cauliflower Poriyal

Cauliflower Subzi:


Cauliflower 1 head - cut into florets
Ginger 1-2 inches thinly sliced
Cumin seeds 1 spoon
Green chili 1 chopped
Onion 1 small chopped
Turmeric powder 1/4 spoon
Cilantro leaves
Olive oil.


Heat oil in a wok, add cumin seeds and chili. Followed by onions.

Now, add the florets. Cover and cook briefly.

Add salt and turmeric powder to the same and cook without lid for about 4-7 minutes.

Once they are done, garnish with cilantro leaves.

Simple and elegant side dish ready:)





2 Cups of unsweetened cocoa
Sugar 1 cup
Butter 1/4 cup
Flour 1 cup
Eggs 2
Salt 1/4 spoon
Melted chocolate to finish.


Mix everything together with electric beater. Transfer the contents to well-greased oven safe pan.

Now bake them over 350 F for about half hour.

Cut them into squares and run the melted chocolate on the top. Chill and serve along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.


Bok Choy Fried Rice

Bok Choy Fried Rice:


Cooked rice 1 cup
Soy sauce few spoons
Chili flakes 1 spoon
Garlic 2 cloves minced
Eggs 3 scrambled
Pepper powder 1 spoon
MSG 1 pinch
Sesame oil few spoons.


In a wide wok, heat oil and stir-fry the greens, add pepper powder to the same. Now, set them aside.

Heat oil in the same wok, add the garlic and wait till they turn fragrant. Now add the rice. Let the oil coat very well. Further add soy sauce and stir-fry over high heat.

Followed by eggs, chili flakes, and greens. Continue frying for couple of minutes and remove from heat.

Healthy fried rice ready...go, grab your fork:)


Purple Cabbage Usili

Red Cabbage Usili:


Cabbage - layered and chopped
Mustard seeds 1/2 spoon
Cumin seeds 1/2 spoon
Chana dal 1/2 spoon
Urad dal 1/2 spoon
Curry leaves few
Green chilies 3 finely chopped
Dry red chilies 6
Thuvar dal 1 cup(soaked in water for 20 minutes)
Ginger-garlic paste 1 spoon
Fennel seeds 3 spoons
Salt(to grind with dal)
Salt for beans
Turmeric 1 pinch
Curry leaves few(to grind)
Oil 2 table spoons.


Dry grind fennel seeds, salt, dry chilies and curry leaves. Set them aside.

Wet grind thuvar dal bit coarsely and set aside.

Heat oil, in a wide pan. Add mustard, cumin, curry leaves, chana and urad dal. Let them pop and splutter well.

Add green chilies and cabbage. Fry well. Add salt and 1 pinch of turmeric powder. Sprinkle little water over this. Cover and cook.

When it is 3/4th cooked add the wet ground paste and cook without lid. Let the dal paste get well coated with the vegetable. Toss to all the sides..until dal gets fried and cooked.

Run few spoons of oil now, if needed. The dal should not be wet or undercooked anymore. It should be sort of crispy and fragrant now.

Serve this hot as a side dish to rice or chappathi/roti.


Pepper-Cumin Fried Rice

Pepper Fried Rice:

On the other day, I was muddling with usual chores, kind of frustrated and all exhausted...that was the day, I said...'Oh boy, I can't cook anymore'. So, AK came to rescue me with his thumbs up, cheering me with his instant dinner. The recipes turned out very appetizing, simple, elegant and quite fulfilling. Here you go...


Cooked rice 1 cup
Cumin seeds 1 spoon
Pepper powder - fresh 2 spoons
Cilantro leaves few
Curry leaves few
Olive oil few spoons.


Heat oil in a wide skillet. Add cumin seeds and followed by rice...stir fry for couple of minutes.

Now add the pepper powder plus cilantro leaves...keep frying for few more minutes and remove from heat.

That's it, friends...dinner ready:)


Chili Ande / Egg Manchurian

Chili Eggs


Eggs 4 boiled
Shallots 1 finely chopped
Garlic 6 cloves chopped
Green chili 1 chopped
Green onions 1 bunch chopped
Tomato sauce
Soy sauce
Chili sauce
Oil few spoons


In a wide wok, heat oil. Add garlic, onions and chili and fry real good.

Now add the sauces and keep stirring for few minutes.

Add the eggs and garlish with green onions, Voila.

Enjoy with fried rice ort noodles:)
